Blepharoplasty

A youthful gaze that captivates!

Blepharoplasty: What It Is

The eyes are among the most expressive and defining features of the face. A tired or dull look can make the entire face appear older and less vibrant.

The skin around the eyes is particularly delicate, and as time passes, it can show signs of aging earlier than other areas.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is a cosmetic procedure designed to rejuvenate the eye area, restoring a bright, youthful, and refreshed appearance.

How is this achieved?

By removing excess skin and fat and reshaping the contours around the eyes for a smoother, more youthful look.

Blepharoplasty is suitable for both men and women who wish to refresh their eye area and minimize signs of fatigue. It can also help reduce the appearance of dark circles and fine lines around the eyes.

Upper Eyelid Surgery

Upper blepharoplasty involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the upper eyelids. The goal is to restore the natural contour of the eyes, enhance facial harmony, and, in some cases, improve vision, as sagging skin can obstruct the visual field.

This procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia. A small incision is made along the natural crease of the upper eyelid. The surgery takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, and the incision is closed with fine sutures, which are removed about 7 days later.

Lower Eyelid Surgery

Lower blepharoplasty targets under-eye puffiness, dark circles, and fine wrinkles, improving the lower eye contour.

An incision is made just below the lash line, making it practically invisible after healing. Excess fat is removed and redistributed to soften the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, minimizing hollowness and shadowing.

Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Upper and lower blepharoplasty offer multiple cosmetic and functional benefits, such as:

  • A brighter and more alert gaze
  • A rejuvenated, fresher facial appearance
  • Reduction of dark circles and wrinkles

How Blepharoplasty Is Performed

Blepharoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia or conscious sedation. If combined with other procedures, general anesthesia may be required.

During the procedure, the surgeon removes excess fat and skin and reshapes the eyelids for a natural and youthful look. The incisions are closed with very fine sutures, which are usually removed within 5 days.

Before the Procedure

Before surgery, your plastic surgeon will:

  • Assess your individual case
  • Discuss your goals and expectations
  • Provide all necessary pre-operative information

A pre-operative medical evaluation is also required to ensure you are in good health and that no underlying conditions may affect the procedure.

After Blepharoplasty Surgery

Following your blepharoplasty procedure, it is crucial to closely follow your surgeon’s post-operative instructions in order to minimize the risk of complications and promote a smooth recovery.

General Guidelines:

  • Avoid intense physical activity and exercise
  • Limit sun exposure and wear sunglasses when outdoors
  • Avoid dry environments or activities that may cause eye dryness
  • Refrain from swimming in pools or the sea
  • Do not drive for at least two hours after surgery
  • Avoid using public transportation on the day of surgery

Avoid wearing makeup for at least 6 days, or until your stitches are removed

Blepharoplasty Cost

The cost of blepharoplasty varies based on:

  • The patient’s individual needs

  • The extent of surgical work required

In all cases, the investment is considered highly worthwhile, especially given the long-lasting results and low risk of complications when performed by an experienced surgeon.
